The lake Nakuru is one of the few permanent soda lakes that maintain a good flamingo view all round the year. The adjacent National park is one of kenya prime game hotspots and is possibly the only government park in Kenya where both black and white Rhinos are common. Other common animals include hippo, giraffes, zebras and lions.
This safari entails a visit to the lake shore, baboon cliff, makalia falls all coming alongside exhaustive game drives. The baboon cliff is a great primate site. Makalia falls are the best location for taking picnic lunch offering one serene setting backdropped by the throbbing sounds of nature.
Lake Naivasha – This is one of the only two fresh water lakes inside Kenya’s great rift valley. The conducive freshwater coupled with extensive yellow-backed acacia woodlands for nesting make it Kenya best destination for sighting semi-aquatic and truly aquatic bird species. The lake has the largest waterfowl concentrate in Kenya. Common waterfowls species include northern pintail, tufted duck, maccoa duck, helmeted guineafowl, red-billed duck and whistling duck. The adjacent woodland tracks are also great sites for terrestrial species like weavers and raptors. These include common cuckoo, common quail, Africa fish eagles, nightjar and Namaqua dove. In the package program you will have a boating excursion docking at the crescent island game park where you will embark on short guided walking safari. The crescent island is one of the few places where you can freely walk to track wildlife. Some of the most common varieties include zebras, impalas, kongoni and giraffes.
When to go for 2 Days Lake Nakuru and Naivasha safari
Since both destinations boost an excellent birding and game experience, there is no appointed time for this package. However, different seasons yield different experiences. The dry season( January to February and July to October) is the best for game viewing in Lake Nakuru and crescent island. Over this period most of the wildlife congregate around flora rich lake side swamps a clustered setting that make game tracking easier. However the wet season(March to April and again November) is the best for birding as most birds are in the breeding period. Over this period some intra-africa breeding species are common. For the Europe migrants some duck species settle in Lake Naivasha throughout the wintering season(November to April).
